Work Related Deaths and Inquests - Introduction

  1. This section provides an overview of the different HSE roles and responsibilities when investigating work-related deaths, in relation to:
    • the police;
    • the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service); and
    • the Coroner.

  2. It also outlines the main legal rules that govern Coroners' courts, together with the procedures that you will need to know when the inquest is held after a work-related death.
