Reporting and publicising proceedings

Introduction

1. This section outlines the principles that govern disclosure of information to the public. It is not concerned with disclosure of information to a defendant within the course of criminal proceedings, for example advance information or disclosure of unused material under the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996.

2. You should apply these principles to each situation, including requests for information, on a case-by-case basis.
