1. Overview

Temporary changes to GB biocides application processing times - more information.

Biocidal product authorisation holders can apply to amend or cancel their national or simplified product/product family authorisation granted under the GB Biocidal Products Regulation (GB BPR) in Great Britain (GB).

Change an authorisation

Most changes will need to be authorised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) before being put into effect, but some administrative changes do not, such as:

  • removing a manufacturer of the biocidal product or active substance
  • removal of use against a particular target organism
  • removal of a specific use
  • removal of a user category

A full list of the changes that do not require authorisation is in annex section 2 of Regulation (EU) No 354/2013.

You should notify HSE of these types of changes within 12 months of applying them.

For changes that require authorisation you will need to apply to HSE.

Cancel an authorisation

To cancel an authorisation, email your request to HSE at: [email protected].

In most cases, there will be no fee.

Changes and cancellations imposed by HSE

Where an issue with the safety or efficacy of a product is identified, HSE may need to impose amendments to the authorisation or cancel it.
