RR413 - Investigation of design options for the Workplace Health and Safety Survey
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is planning to conduct a programme of large-scale workplace surveys during the period 2005-2015, in order to study the state of health and safety in Britain's workplaces. This survey is intended to take a leading role among the range of sources used by HSE to assess the progress towards government targets set for health and safety at work.
In advance of this survey programme, BMRB conducted a Dress Rehearsal to test the intended approach. A process report, presented herein as an appendix, describes all stages of fieldwork in detail, and should be read in conjunction with the main report for a comprehensive description of the survey.
This report describes BMRB's experience of the Dress Rehearsal detailing our processes, describing lessons learned and making recommendations for the planning of the main survey. The report begins by outlining the background and key objectives for the Dress Rehearsal and is followed by a section describing the survey structure. The report continues with a comprehensive explanation of the outcome of the study in terms of the objectives, detailing fieldwork figures, response rates and other technical matters.
