RR304 - Safety implications of European risk based inspection and maintenance methodology

This report describes work for HSE to review the safety related implications of the European research and development project "Risk Based Inspection and Maintenance Procedures for European Industry" (RIMAP)

RIMAP is partly funded by the European Commission under EC Framework Programme 5. Mitsui Babcock have reviewed for HSE the implications of RIMAP for health and safety in the UK. A number of relevant issues have been highlighted to HSE, both during the course of this project, and in this final report. There have been several cases where Mitsui Babcock has provided feedback on HSE's views to the RIMAP consortium and this is believed to have been beneficial both for the RIMAP project and in helping to achieve HSE's objectives regarding health and safety within the UK, with particular respect to operation of process and pressure plant.

This report and the work it describes were funded by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Its contents, including any opinions and/or conclusions expressed, are those of the authors alone and do not necessarily reflect HSE policy.
