RR142 - Development of a method for the in vitro identification of contact allergens
Allergic contact dermatitis is an important occupational health issue and there is a range of methods available for the prospective identification of chemicals with the potential to cause skin sensitization. Improvements have been made recently with respect to the reduction and refinement of the use of experimental animals in such tests. The aim of this project was to examine the opportunities available for the development of in vitro approaches for the identification of contact sensitizers using transcript profiling by microarray.
