Presents the findings from a quantitative and qualitative study conducted prospectively by collecting data over a sixteen month period through established primary care networks. General practitioners were selected from defined areas of the country in England and Wales to collect data on farm accidents and zoonoses seen in children under the age of sixteen years in primary care. The data was gathered and analysed to identify on the nature and numbers of accidents and illness occurring in children, under sixteen years of age, emanating from the use of the countryside and the agricultural industry. The report presents a typology of high risk situations for childhood accidents and zoonoses connected with the countryside and agriculture seeking to locate the findings within the present body of knowledge by reviewing available literature.
