RR52 - Audit of the Health and Safety Executive's Openness Procedures and Practices Volume 1, 2 and 3
Volume I: Report aims were to identify and assess the suitability and effectiveness of HSE's existing administrative procedures within the current legal framework. Includes relevant legal duties and government policies; public notices and internal policies; release of information in response to requests; publication of information; third party information; complaints and appeals.
Volume II: Attitudinal research among staff and stakeholders focuses mainly on openness between HSE and the outside world rather than internal openness within HSE. Draws on two linked studies (reported together here) designed to look at policy and procedure as seen by staff and stakeholders.
Volume III: Website study describes an assessment of HSE's website, in particular of the services which support HSE's policy on openness. Draws on research conducted by a joint London School of Economics (LSE) and University College London (UCL) team for the National Audit Office value for money study 'Government on the web' published by the national Audit Office. States that the site is well designed and maintained, and ranks high in comparison to other Executive Body sites in UK central government.
