Explosives Regulations 2014

The new Explosives Regulations 2014 (ER 2014) came into force on 1 October 2014.

HSE has worked with stakeholders since 2010 to review existing health and safety related explosives legislation.

The new regulations

Information on the controls that apply to the transfer of explosives within Great Britain (GB).

Transfer of explosives

Classification

Explosives must be classified before they are transported. Classification involves an assessment to determine the hazards posed by the explosives as packaged for transport. In Great Britain, the Competent Authorities for assigning explosives classifications are HSE and MOD.
