Very specific guidance aligned to the Regulations. In addition to a legal summary and relevant references, the ACOP considers several defined areas of critical consideration including: required exit conditions; auxiliary apparatus and equipment; access between exits; intake airways; roads; ladderways; stairways; barriers; and enclosures.

On 6 April 2015 the Mines Regulations 2014 come into effect and replace the existing mines legislation. At the same time, the Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs) associated with the existing legislation will be withdrawn, and from 6 April 2015 this publication will no longer be available.

Guidance on the new Regulations (L149) will be available to download from HSE's website from 6 April 2015 and includes guidance on all of the topics previously covered by the ACOPs. You will also be able to find further topic-specific guidance on HSE's website.

A draft version of L149 is available to download now, although please note that it may be subject to further change before 6 April 2015 when the Mines Regulations 2014 come into effect.
