Prosecutions by local authority health and safety enforcement officers

The National Local Authority Enforcement Code encourages LAs to publicise details of their health and safety intervention, enforcement and prosecution activity to encourage local accountability. LAs share this information with HSE to allow the preparation of national data. .

Local Authorities provide HSE with details of prosecutions taken under health and safety legislation via an on-line survey. This information is collated annually and contributes to the national enforcement statistics.

HSE publishes details of prosecutions taken during the last 5 years providing a single data source for LAs to benchmark their activity or for anyone wanting to know about the enforcement activity of one or more local authorities.

For further information on specific cases please contact the prosecuting Local Authority directly.
