Training courses

Our training courses are developed to include practical guidance around regulations and are delivered by experts to help organisations comply with the law and keep workforces healthy and safe.

Some of our most popular courses are now delivered live online. We’ve made sure that you will still have a direct dialogue with our experts, a high level of interaction with the other attendees, and lots of opportunities to ask questions, just as you would in a normal training environment. Printed course material will be delivered directly to you.

12-14 May 2026 - Stone and Surfaces Show

HSE is exhibiting and speaking at the Stone and Surfaces Show.

Work on engineered stone can generate high levels of respirable crystalline silica (RCS) dust, causing serious, life limiting lung disease including silicosis, COPD and lung cancer — conditions that are preventable with the right controls.

On 13 May, in the Architects Theatre, HSE’s Mike Calcutt, Deputy Director in the Engagement and Policy Division, will share insights from HSE’s collaboration with the stone industry. This includes 2 years of scientific research to define effective control practices for minimising the risk of exposure to RCS.

You can visit the HSE stand at the event to speak with our team and get practical advice by registering for your free ticket.

For further guidance on working safely with engineered stone, visit the Work Right website for resources to help you comply with the law and protect workers.

3-4 June 2026 - UK Garage and Bodyshop Event

HSE is exhibiting and speaking at the UK Garage and Bodyshop event.

Many skilled vehicle paint sprayers develop occupational asthma each year due to uncontrolled exposure to isocyanates, forcing them to leave their profession permanently.

HSE is protecting the health of these workers by inspecting motor vehicle repair businesses across Great Britain to assess how well employers are complying with their legal duty to prevent and control worker exposure to isocyanates, as well as monitor worker health through regular health surveillance and biological monitoring.

On 4 June, HSE’s Stephen Green and David Towler will be speaking in the Business Management Theatre about what to expect when the inspector calls.

In this session, they’ll explain what to expect during a HSE inspection, share insights from our inspection data, explain the consequences of non-compliance and remind employers about the critical safety measures they must implement during spray painting operations.
