Working safely with ionising radiation
Guidelines for expectant or breastfeeding mothers
This guidance is for female employees who may be exposed to ionising radiation during their work. It is specifically aimed at those women who are thinking of having a baby or are already pregnant or breastfeeding.
The guidance explains:
- what your employer should already be doing to comply with the Ionising Radiations Regulations1999
- the additional requirements during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- the importance of letting your employer know as soon as you are aware that you are pregnant
This edition updates references to further reading and gives a clearer explanation of what action you and your employer should take and why.
