Science, engineering and evidence
HSE is a scientific and evidence based organisation that employs over 850 science and engineering experts. Our Annual Science Reviews provides case studies of the science, engineering and analysis work we have delivered and illustrates how HSE uses robust science and evidence to protect people and places, helping to maintaining Great Britain’s record as one of the safest countries to work in.
This year’s review illustrates the mix of activities that has helped to ensure that HSE’s response to the pandemic was informed by the best available evidence. In addition, it has also provided information that could help our organisation build back better in those areas where evidence was needed to help us be an enabling regulator, and secure justice against those who breach the law. As well as highlighting scientific achievements, awards and publications, it also focuses on the roles of some of our specialist staff.
