RR1231: Model Evaluation Report on DRIFT Version 3.7.23

To ensure that DRIFT 3 remains fit for purpose it is important to continue to evaluate it and to assess the effect of changes to the model on its predictions. This report describes the evaluation of DRIFT 3.7.23 against a Model Evaluation Protocol (MEP) designed specifically for DRIFT, which contains scientific assessment, verification, validation and a user-oriented assessment. The DRIFT MEP also includes the testing of the model against a set of exemplar scenarios, representative of the types of scenarios typically modelled by HSE for the purposes of Hazardous Substances Consent assessment. Based on the evaluation of DRIFT 3.7.23 against the DRIFT MEP, DRIFT 3.7.23 is judged to be fit for purpose and suitable for use in HSE’s regulatory work.

This report is aimed at technical specialists in consequence modelling and risk assessment.
