Ways to learn: your options

HSE offers a variety of ways to learn to suit your training needs and preferences.

Face-to-face courses

You can book any of the face-to-face courses we hold throughout the year. These provide high quality content to delegates from any organisation.

Courses are delivered from either the world-renowned HSE Science and Research Centre or from city centre locations, including:

In-house bespoke training

We can build training around your organisation’s needs: whether that’ the content you want delivering, the location you want to learn from, the format of the training or dates and times. We’ll work with you to produce a flexible training package that helps you to achieve your learning objectives. Find out more about in-house training options.

Live online (virtual) training

You can attend many of our courses live online from anywhere in the world. Our online training recreates the face-to-face learning experience in a secure, real-time, virtual environment with lots of opportunity throughout the course for direct tutor interaction, Q&A and group discussion.

Our learning platform is easy to access and highly interactive, making use of the latest online functionality including breakout rooms, polling and interactive whiteboards. For your comfort and wellbeing, our online training includes ample time for screen breaks and resting time.

Self-paced e-learning

With self-paced e-learning you and your team can access learning materials at a time that suits you. Complete a course in a single session or revisit it at multiple points, this is a flexible way to learn.

Our digital content can be accessed via our learning platform or can be hosted on your organisations’ own learning management systems. We can work with organisations to develop tailored and bespoke online courses, get in touch to find out more.

Events, conferences and webinars

Attend one of our many events, conferences or webinars designed to bring industry, government and academia together. Often free, these are an opportunity to better understand and tackle today’s health and safety challenges, as well as to learn, share and network in-person. Inclusive and accessible learning

The HSE Science and Research Centre is fully accessible for those with varied mobility needs, as are the other venues that we carefully select for training and events.

We strive to create a truly inclusive environment for delegates, including those with diverse learning needs. We offer a range of adjustments, including training resources and documentation in accessible formats such as large print and coloured overlays. For qualifications involving assessment we can provide a reader or scribe.
