Non-metallic mineral industries
Non-metallic mineral industries have many things in common such as the raw materials they use and the health and safety issues they encounter. They include the following: cement; ceramics; concrete; glass & glazing; heavy clay & bricks and refractories.
These industries are linked by CHARGE - the joint advisory health and safety committee. They have similar causes of injuries and ill-health which need to be considered when carrying out your risk assessments.
