Is mobile machinery defined within the regulations?

Mobile machinery (eg white lining, road construction vehicles etc)

Mobile machinery is fully exempt from the regulations. The term is not defined, but, subject to any Court decision, to be regarded as mobile machinery a vehicle must beĀ  dedicated for the task and not simply, for example, a flat bed lorry that happens to have the equipment on board.

Examples:

  • Road-planing machines
  • black top machines
  • white lining vehicles
  • vehicles used for service, maintenance and calibration of refuelling equipment
  • vehicles used for specialist applications such as interceptor / gulley emptying
