Basic substances: pesticides

A basic substance is an active substance that is not placed on the market primarily as a plant protection product but which may be of value for plant protection and so does not go through the full active substance approval process.

To be approved as a basic active substance, the active substance must meet the criteria from article 23. retained Regulation (EC) 1107/2009 (legislation.gov.uk website)

Approved basic substances are included in the GB approvals Register. For basic substances approved before EU Exit, the summary of approved uses and conditions are provided within the Review Report.
