Review of the regulatory process and procedures for plant protection products
Changes due to Brexit
Your health and safety responsibilities will not change when the UK leaves the EU. This guidance is under review.
Regulatory Update: 07/2016
Issued: 24 March 2016
HSE is conducting a review of its regulatory procedures for the consideration of plant protection product applications under Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009.
The key objective of the review is to improve the efficiency of the processes and procedures in order to increase the predictability in the delivery of regulatory decisions and ensure HSE fully recovers the costs of all work involved in the evaluation process.
As a result of the review, changes are being made to the current processes and procedures. The changes are being implemented in two stages.
From 1 April 2016:
- Fast track applications in their current form will begin to be phased out
- Pre-submission meetings will be encouraged for complex applications and groups of applications covering zonal and Article 43 product renewal submissions to HSE
From 1 June 2016
- Changes to the application streams and timelines will be introduced
- Changes to procedures relating to sifting and requesting additional information will be made.
Further details relating to the changes to processes and procedures will shortly be available on the HSE pesticides website.
