Case 293 - Knitted bunting taken down due to leaning lampposts
A Borough Council hung bunting carrying 20,000 small knitted Tour de France jerseys on lampposts but the County Council asked for it to be taken down due to concerns over the structural integrity of the heritage-style lampposts.
It appears that the problem in this case is not with the use of bunting, given that the Council is distributing lots of it own design, but with the use of wire in tension to attach it to heritage-style lampposts. Given that the lampposts were seen to be leaning under tension if was probably a good idea to move the bunting but the solution lies in suggesting alternative means to display the magnificent work of the locals in creating their own tribute to the Tour. Bravo Masham Tricoteuses!!
