Case 100 - Charity shop told that 'under HSE' they should not be selling used underwear

Following a recent inspection from the managing organisation a local charity shop has been told that 'under HSE' they should not be selling used underwear. The enquirer wants to know if this a HSE ruling and is there any guidance on this.

Panel decision

HSE has not issued any ruling on the sale of second hand underwear. This is not an area which is covered by Occupational Health and safety law. The managing organisation should be challenged to explain the real reasons rather than simply stating "HSE".
