A magazine for landlords cited health and safety regulations as the reason a particular landlord received 32 recommendations to improve their rented property.
This issue does not relate to workplace health and safety but is rooted in the name of the guidance for local authorities for accommodation standards in rented property - the "Housing Health and Safety Rating System". Some of the guidance relates to safety issues, including fire safety but others appear to be more concerned with providing good quality accommodation rather than safety matters. The panel recommends that the list of requirements is taken up with the local authority to determine which of the recommendations they have made actually have a basis in legal requirements.
