Mining Industry Safety Leadership Group
The primary role of the Mining Industry Safety Leadership Group (MISLG) is to provide a forum to develop, lead and implement a strategy for health and safety in the mining industry, coal mines and mines producing other minerals.
The Group will be tripartite with representation drawn from employers' organisations, trade unions and HSE and will address specific strategic roles of Leadership, Involving the workforce, Avoiding catastrophe, Building competence and Creating healthier, safer workplaces.
MISLG will also engage with the wider health and safety community and make recommendations to HSE and other government bodies, as appropriate, on issues such as policies and legislation.

- The role and design of safe havens in arrangements for escape from mines
- Use of rockbolts to support roadways in coal mines
