Manufacturing: returning to work safely during the coronavirus pandemic

1. Overview

This guidance is for employers and businesses in manufacturing sectors.

It will help you understand and manage any additional risks caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and explain how to continue or restart operations safely.

You will need to assess the risks to people from coronavirus and assess any potential risks from machinery, equipment and buildings that have not been used for long periods of time.

When you do your risk assessment, consider:

  • the safe use of machinery and equipment - standalone machines, process lines, mobile plant and pressure systems both large and small
  • the general safety of your building
  • how you will protect people from coronavirus - including workers, contractors and visitors

This page is reviewed regularly and updated to reflect any changes in the guidance.
