6. Resident awareness
The people who live in a building are also important in managing its safety. If you are responsible for an occupied, high-rise residential building, it is important to provide residents with information to raise awareness of building safety.
Your residents should know they have certain responsibilities for keeping the building safe. You will need to make your residents aware that they must not:
- do anything that creates a significant risk to the building's structural safety
- do anything that creates a significant risk of causing or spreading fire in the building
- damage or remove any of the building's fire safety measures, such as smoke detectors, fire alarms, fire doors, and fire extinguishers
Our Residents page contains more information about resident engagement. You can also read about Residents' Voice, and the Interim Residents Panel.
