Sector plan for health and safety in agriculture
This sector covers the traditional farming and forestry industries – crop and animal production, forestry, logging, arboriculture, fishing and aquaculture.
Around 340 000 people work in the sector, with a mix of the self-employed, employees, family, casual and gang labour for seasonal activities. Agriculture as a sector contributes around £11 billion to the economy.
The plan
This plan covers the current position, priorities and what HSE will do to help Great Britain work well.

Recognising that the agricultural sector (encompassing crop and animal production, forestry, logging, fishing and aquaculture) has a poor record of managing health and safety risks, this document sets out in more detail the actions HSE will take over the next three to five years to drive improvements in the industry.
