Safe Handling of Metal Powder Waste in Additive Manufacturing
There is an increased focus on health and safety in Additive Metal Manufacturing (AMM), including specific concerns for operator lung exposure, the risk for ignition and combustion, as well as safety, health, and environmental concerns about disposal of waste metal powder. A shared research project is proposed to offer solutions to the key issues & barriers in order to ensure the safe handling of waste in additive metal manufacturing.
Engineered composite repairs
Sponsors are currently being sought for a shared research project aimed at improving our collective knowledge and understanding of the long-term integrity of engineered composite repairs. This work is expected to commence in early 2016 and will be 18 to 24 months in duration.
Energy storage
Energy storage has a key role to play in delivering a secure, sustainable and affordable energy system for the future. A shared research programme is proposed to ensure that health and safety considerations do not create unnecessary barriers to the commercial deployment of energy storage technologies.
