A medium sized arable farm also makes use of a field near the farm buildings as a campsite. The owners converted part of a barn into a games room, which was accessed through a gap in the fence separating the campsite and the farm proper.
One afternoon in September a brother and sister were playing hide and seek around the farm buildings. A seasonal worker who had been hired to help with the harvest drove a tractor out from between two farm buildings. As his tractor rounded a stack of hay bails he struck the young girl with his left front wheel.
Fortunately, the girl was not killed in the accident, however, she did suffer a broken arm and severe bruising to her left leg. The authorities were called in and an investigation into the the suitability of the campsite was carried out.
