The key improvement
After the accident the company looked closely at their traffic management. One important change they made was to reduce the speed of vehicles on the site. Signage has been employed to introduce a lower speed limit, and raise driver's awareness of pedestrian crossing points.
Other improvements
Raised traffic calming measures and better lighting in crossing areas has been installed. Control of temporary storage has been introduced and waste management improved.
Benefits
The nature of the site means pedestrians still have to cross traffic routes. However, measures to control vehicle speed and improve visibility have reduced the risk of an accident.
