Employee flash fries her arm


Minor accidents can cause serious injuries in hazardous environments: one employee fell on a deep fat fryer.
A 16 year old girl slipped on water leaking from an ice-making machine and instinctively put out her hand to break her fall. It plunged into a deep fat fryer containing oil at 360°F. She sustained severe burns to her left hand and forearm.

This horrific accident could have been prevented. The outlet was short staffed on the day and the Team Leader was working on the tills rather than keeping an eye on leaks and spillages.
