Who is this audit scheme for?

This audit scheme is aimed at all employers, employees and others who work in the textile and footwear industries. It can be used by anyone to help them find out about the health and safety standards which apply to their businesses, and to decide what more they need to do to comply with the law.

How to use this audit scheme

It is not intended that people start at page one and work their way through the whole audit scheme. This audit scheme has been designed as a menu of 'bite-sized chunks' for users to select depending on their own needs and priorities.

The audit scheme is split up into the following parts:

• How you review your health and safety system
• Maintenance and building services related risks
• Welfare issues
• Storage and control of products and by-products
• How you control general risks
• How you control process risks which apply across the textiles industries
• How you control process risks which apply largely to the woollen textiles industries
• How you control process risks which apply largely to the knitting industry
• How you control process risks which apply largely to the footwear industry

Within each Part is a menu of topics. Each topic has a Question Set and an accompanying Help Set, to assist with the questions.
