Do I have to follow the Management Standards approach?
The Management Standards for work related stress describe an approach to risk management incorporating a number of key features considered to be essential to reduce the causes of stress. If you follow this risk assessment and management process correctly, you will be adopting an approach that is considered suitable and sufficient.
Assessing your own approach
If you are starting from scratch, following the Management Standards step-by-step approach may save you time.
However, like many other organisations, you may have already developed your own approach to risk assessment for work related stress. You may not use the word 'stress', for example, but may focus on positive aspects such as 'wellness' or 'healthy workplaces'.
The questions in the checklist may help you assess what you already do.
