HSE revised guidance 'Managing the causes of work related stress – A step-by-step approach using the Management Standards' - (HSG218 ISBN 9780717662739) is now available from HSE Books priced £10.95.
This edition updates and replaces the existing publication 'A manager’s guide to improving and maintaining employee health and well-being' and includes a CD ROM containing further revised tools and guidance.

Other useful publications
Acas
Aims to improve organisations and working life through better employment relations. It helps with employment relations by supplying up-to-date information, independent advice and high quality training, and working with employers and employees to solve problems and improve performance. It publishes some useful information about managing stress.
Businesslink
The Department of Trade and Industry Businesslink initiative provides a range of advice for SMEs, including health and safety. They have recently developed some online stress guidance for small firms, which HSE has contributed to and supports.
EC Social Partners voluntary agreement guidance
This guidance on work related stress is designed to:
- Provide a framework, which will help identify and prevent work related stress and deal with it effectively when it arises;
- Create awareness among employers, employees and their representatives about work related stress.
The Confederation of British Industries (CBI), Trade Union Congress (TUC), European Centre of Enterprises with Public Participation and of Enterprises of General Economic Interest (CEEP) UK and Forum of Private Business (FPB), working together in partnership with HSE and the DTI have jointly drawn up the guidance.
