The latest information for the West Midlands shows a downward trend in both work-related ill health and workplace injury.
- Ill Health: 77 000 people suffered from work-related illness, a rate of 2 950 per 100 000 people working in the past 12 months (LFS).
- Injuries: There were 10 917 reported injuries to employees, a 2.3% decrease from the previous year (RIDDOR).
- Injury rates: Total rate of reported injury fell to 520.8 per 100 000 employees, compared with a five year average of 562.2 (RIDDOR).
- Working days lost: 1.8 million working days were lost due to workplace injury and ill health, 0.9 days per worker (LFS).
- Enforcement: HSE inspectors issued 937 notices and prosecuted 65 cases, 60 of which led to a conviction (92%).
