The latest information for Wales shows a downtrend trend in workplace injury but no clear trend in rates of work-related ill health.

  • Ill Health: 52 000 people suffered from work-related illness, a rate of 3 600 per 100 000 people working in the past 12 months (LFS).
  • Injuries: There were 6 064 reported injuries to employees, a 7.5% decrease from the previous year (RIDDOR).
  • Injury rates: Total rate of reported injury fell to 542.8 per 100 000 employees, compared with a five year average of 618.7 (RIDDOR).
  • Working days lost: 1.5 million working days were lost due to workplace injury and ill health, 1.4 days per worker (LFS).
  • Enforcement: HSE inspectors issued 557 notices and prosecuted 31 cases, 28 of which led to a conviction.
