North East government office region (GOR)
The latest information for the North East shows a downward trend in workplace injuries but no clear trend in rates of work-related ill health.
- Ill Health: 56 000 people suffered from work-related illness, a rate of 4 630 per 100 000 people working in the past 12 months (LFS).
- Injuries: There were 4 892 reported injuries to employees, a 7.4% decrease from the previous year (RIDDOR).
- Injury rates: Total rate of reported injury fell to 482.5 per 100 000 employees, compared to a five year average of 550.0 (RIDDOR).
- Working days lost: 1.6 million working days were lost due to workplace injury and ill health, 1.8 days per worker (LFS).
- Enforcement: HSE inspectors issued 491 notices and prosecuted 14 cases, all of which led to a conviction.
