The latest information for the North East shows a downward trend in workplace injuries but no clear trend in rates of work-related ill health.
- Ill Health: 53 000 people suffered from work-related illness, a rate of 4 400 per 100 000 people working in the past 12 months (LFS).
- Injuries: There were 5 246 reported injuries to employees, a 5.6% decrease from the previous year (RIDDOR).
- Injury rates: Total rate of reported injury fell to 513.7 per 100 000 employees, from compared to a five year average of 584.3 (RIDDOR).
- Working days lost: 1.8 million working days were lost due to workplace injury and ill health, 2.0 days per worker (LFS).
- Enforcement: HSE inspectors issued 412 notices and prosecuted 16 cases, 15 of which led to a conviction.
