Self-reported work-related illness and workplace injuries in 2006/07: Results from the Labour Force Survey

The latest national statistics on self-reported work-related illness and workplace injuries, produced by the Health and Safety Executive, were released on 28 May 2008 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

This release presents statistics on self-reported work-related illness and workplace injuries in Great Britain, for the period 2006/07.

The key points from the latest release are:

• 2.2 million people were suffering from an illness they believe was caused or made worse by their current or past work.
• 274 000 non-fatal reportable injuries occurred, a rate of 1000 per 100 000 workers (1.0%).
• 36 million working days were lost overall (1.5 days per worker), 30 million due to work-related illness and 6 million due to workplace injury.
