Work-related ill health and injuries in public administration - Summary
- In 2008/09, the estimated prevalence rate of self-reported work-related ill-health in public administration was of a similar order to that for all industries, based on results from the Labour Force Survey (LFS).
- Results from the LFS indicate that 2.4 million days were lost due to work related ill-health or injury in public administration in 2008/09. The corresponding rate of 1.4 days lost per workers was similar to the rate for all industries.
- Compared with other industry groups relatively more of all the reported injuries in public administration were less serious, i.e. over-3-day injuries relative to major and fatal injuries. Indeed, compared to other industries this industry has one of the highest rates of reported over-3-day injuries (720.4 per 100 000 employees in 2008/09p).
- Relative to other industries a higher proportion of reported injuries in public administration were caused by acts of violence.
