Welcome to the first edition of the newsletter for SAT users. Version 1.00 of the SAT has been available via the Internet for 8 months and so far the response has been very positive – thanks for your support. We intend to publish these newsletters on a regular basis to keep you informed of any SAT related information. It is hoped that future issues will also include articles written by users on how they have used the SAT (see below).
For those of you who are unaware, a helpline has been established to provide support to SAT users. This is an email only system and the email address is: sat@hsl.gsi.gov.uk. You can also use this address to let us know of suggestions you may have for improving the system or any other information or queries related to the SAT.
Firstly, thank you to everyone who has registered the SAT. There are now over 500 registered users, which is very encouraging. However, the website statistics indicate that there have been over 4000 SAT downloads so if you know of any SAT users that have not registered, we would be very grateful if you could persuade them to do so. Registering the SAT helps us estimate the number of users and allows us to contact you as required.
An online questionnaire is currently being developed that will help us gauge your response to the SAT and allow us to make improvements in the future. This should shortly be available and we will let you know when it is ready.
Now some bad news - a problem has been identified with the current release that could prevent previous assessments from being displayed in the list box on the load assessment screen. This can occur if text saved within the data file (for instance text entered from the Assessment Details screen) includes the characters '&' or '<'. The short-term solution is to avoid using these characters until a new version is released. The good news is that it should be possible to recover the data from the appropriate data file. If you would like advice on how to do this, or would like us to do it for you, please contact us via the sat helpline sat@hsl.gsi.gov.uk. Details have been published on the ‘known issues’ page of the website and we advise you to regularly check this page for the latest information.
An updated SAT will be released later this year, which should overcome the problem identified above. However, if you have any suggestions for other features you would like included in the SAT please let us know via the help line. One feature that has been requested by several users is the ability to print the Graphical Representation. Also, if you have any examples of how you have used the SAT that you would like to share, please forward them to the helpline. Ideas could include how the SAT has helped reduced slip incidents or how it has helped identify problem areas.
Well, that’s about it for this edition. We hope you are finding the SAT useful and remember, if you have any queries please email them to sat@hsl.gsi.gov.uk
Regards,
The SAT team.
