Slip resistance tests

It is important to know how slippery your floor is, as there is a level of friction below which people tend to slip over and above which people don't.

To prevent slips, you need to understand the level of slip resistance your floors may provide. There are two ways of measuring this:
  • co-efficient of friction tests;
  • microroughness tests.
There are a number of co-efficient of friction tests, some are better than others. The following lessons provide more detail on tests you are likely to come across in flooring safety data sheets.
