# More: Inclined surfaces

To enable a person to walk normally on a slope the floor surface will need to provide a higher level of friction.

Applying a simple equation will allow you to work out what the new level of friction required is. The equation is:

CoF(slope) = CoF(level) + Tan (A)

Where: CoF = Coefficient of friction; A = Angle of slope of the floor.

The table shows how the PTV (pendulum test values) figures change when there is a slope by 5 degrees.

Note: PTV is approximately 100 x CoF.
