Skin infections, infestations and insect bites may be occupational in origin:

• bacteria (anthrax);
• viruses (orf);
• fungi (tinea pedis in miners);
• yeasts (candidal paronychia in wet workers);
• arthropods ('grain itch' from mites);
• Protozoa (Leishmaniasis in soldiers posted to South America).
