Knowledge programme action group final report
The Knowledge Programme Action Group were invited to consider how the occupational health community could act upon the knowledge programme, as set out in Securing Health Together:
To obtain essential knowledge on occupational health
This programme is about promoting the collection of data, and other facts, and processing this material to obtain the knowledge needed to move other parts of the strategy forward and to monitor the success of the strategy.
Work of the Knowledge Programme Action Group
- The Knowledge PAG looked at the major difficulty of the availability of data that could be used to measure progress against the work-related ill health targets in Securing Health Together.
- They held a workshop in Dec 2000 to look at this issue; the conclusions of which went into the HSE’s report Achieving the Revitalising Health & Safety Targets: Statistical Note on Progress Measurement.
- This report set out how HSE would use existing sources of data to set a baseline and begin to track progress, but would simultaneously work to develop improved data. The latest update on progress against the targets and more detailed information on the various information sources used by HSE are contained in the Occupational Health Statistics Bulletin 2002/3.
