Mapping Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Professional Body Activities in Scotland

This report was commissioned by the Partnership on Health and Safety in Scotland - a body set up by the Health and Safety Commission as a forum for key stakeholders in workplace health and safety in Scotland, including the Scottish Executive.

The purpose of the report is to:

Anecdotally, there is a belief that competent occupational safety and health resources are underused and/or ignored by some Scottish business, academia and public bodies.

The report is underpinned by data on members of professional bodies in each category and discipline to allow an initial assessment of current and future demand for services against capacity.  Such an assessment will inform decisions about how to develop and expand the professional services needed for Scotland's future success, as well as defining a new model for sharing that responsibility across private, public and voluntary sectors.
