Health and safety related events being held throughout Scotland 2008

Events listed below are those which are organised by the HSE/C or in which HSE/C has significant involvement. This involvement ranges from providing speakers to taking part in an exhibition. We do not endorse any of the events listed below run by other organisations.

The Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) is holding a series of five Business to Business Health and Safety Seminars supported by the Scottish Government. The key aims are to help you boost business profitability and competitiveness through sensible health and safety; increase your understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice; learn about practical solutions that you can apply to your business through case study presentations and find out about the public and private sector support and expertise available to you.

24 June 2008 - Partnership on Health and Safety in Scotland (PHASS), Glasgow

The 10th PHASS meeting will be held in HSE's Glasgow office on Tuesday 24 June, 2008. 19-22 June 2008 - Royal Highland Show, Ingliston, Edinburgh

HSE staff will be attending this year's Royal Highland Show to provide advice on all aspects of health and safety within the rural community. Two LANTRA trainers will be on hand to discuss and demonstrate good practice when handling livestock including ear tagging.  Farmers will also be able to see a demonstration of HSE's free self assessment tool which assists duty holders when making a risk assessment. Please go along and visit them on Avenue O at Stand 574.

2 July 2008 - Farm and Croft Health and Safety Awareness Day - Shetland Marts Co-operative, Stanleyhill North Road, Lerwick, Shetland

This event is designed for farmers and crofters from the Shetland Isles to raise awareness of the main health and safety risks on farms and to encourage duty holders to foster a climate of culture change leading to a reduction in risk taking behaviour. Issues covered include manual handling, animal handling, child safety, occupational health and work at height. For more information please contact Nikki Jack on 0131 247 2109.
