Safer Community - Aims & objectives

Aims

The principal aim of Safer Community is to make sustainable improvements in Safety and Health, through partnership working between LA’s, the HSE and other relevant partners and by focussing upon the FIT3 agenda.

The proposal is centred on holding a high profile Safer Community week, in a dedicated location. All partners will then work together, both leading up to and during that week, with the aim of publicising and promoting safety and health in the workplace and community by maximising the opportunities for employers and employees to access advice, help and information.

Objectives

1. Work with relevant partners to establish a programme for the Safer Community Campaign.
2. Work with partners to reduce occupational accidents and ill health by promoting a healthier and safer culture in all workplaces by;
   1. Providing appropriate sources of information on the health and safety issues that are most relevant to the community.
   2. Assisting employers and employees to comply with their legal obligations relating to workplace safety, health and welfare.
   3. Promoting and sharing best practices in relation to occupational health and safety management.
   4. Carrying out focussed enforcement activity.
