Full impact assessments

An Impact Assessment (IA) is required for any proposal that imposes or reduces costs on businesses, charities or voluntary sector.  If having considered and analysed the options, the preferred option is likely to reduce or increase costs to dutyholders by £5m or more in any one year, or is less than £5m but is likely to be contentious^[1], then a full IA is required.  Otherwise a short IA should be completed.

• Amendments to the Health and Safety Information for Employees Regulation 1989
• Repealing notification and record keeping requirements for factories, offices and shops
• Chemical (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2009 - known as CHIP 4
• Safety Representatives and Safety Committee Regulations 1977: Health and Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996 (Amendment) - Improvement and revision of guidance
