In 2005/06 the retail industry reported 13,000 work related accidents. Over 2000 of these accidents were classified as major injuries such as fractures.

The Health and Safety Executive has developed a shop risk assessment tool which allows those working in small low-risk shops to do their risk assessment quickly and easily. It enables you to produce a tailored assessment by selecting the relevant hazards and thinking about how you control them.
