Science & research
HSE's Chief Scientist Unit supports HSE's Chief Scientist in ensuring that HSE continues to respond appropriately to the development and implementation of Government policy on science and research.
The Unit has lead responsibility for the development of HSC/E's Science and Research Strategy and for the Commissioning and Evaluation of research and support work. The HSC/E's Science Strategy 2005 - 2008 [PDF 410kb]
has been published, and outlines HSC/E’s science and research strategy up to 2008.
A quality system has been developed to secure the effective implementation of the Revised HSE statement on implementation of Guidelines 2005. Procedures are in place for obtaining scientific advice in a crisis [PDF 59kb]
.
Other activities include promoting HSE's engagement in the Foresight programme and securing implementation of the recommendations of the Baker report on the commercialisation of public sector research.
The Forward Look 2003 for Government funded science, engineering and technology is published by the DTI Office of Science and Technology and contains a contribution from HSC/E.
